Ramadan Day 13 Just Giving

Who spend [in the cause of Allah ] during ease and hardship and who restrain anger and who pardon the people – and Allah loves the doers of good; Al-Imran:134

I have made a just giving page as I have been trying to raise money for Syria. The cause is very dear to my heart, as is every cause that involves people suffering injustices but we have to start somewhere. I have a button to the right that links to my page where you can donate so please do so even of its only £1. Every penny or whatever your currency is that you give is well appreciated.

I am donating all profit of sales of my art and other handmade items such as books for this cause. Check out my Etsy shop

May Allah reward you will good.

Ramadan Day 11 Less Than Two Thirds Left.

image

Already a third of the way through the month SubhanAllah (glory be to God). It always goes so fast and it is a constant reminder to us of how quickly time goes.

I am trying to reevaluate and look at my productivity because Ramadan is the month of productivity. It shouldn’t be the time when life as we know it comes to a standstill. The way I see it it’s the month when we try our best to excell on our deen (religion), by means of prayer, giving in charity etc. It’s 30 day’s of practice for a real change in our lives when you can make a resolution to do something and actually do it.

Of course the main thing is that we keep going after the month is over. Allah says in Surahtul Baqarah: Allah intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship and wants you to complete the period and glorify Allah for that which He has guided you and perhaps you will be grateful. Ramadan is a blessing and once it’s over we should continue to thank Allah for every blessing that we have in our lives.

The poster above has some tips on beating procrastination from Productive Muslim. If you feel that the excitement of Ramadan has waned and you want to avoid the Ramadan slump then try to implement these tips and there are many others to be found on the site inshaAllah.

Ramadan Day 9 Being Kind to Neighbour’s

image

I was so busy yesterday I don’t know how I managed. It was probably my most challenging day for feeling dry and thirsty.

Apparently it was 28 degrees with a feel of 32. My neighbour put out her thermometer in the shade in her garden and it read 28. MashaAllah nice hot sunny weather.

I was surprised to find my neighbour who is an old lady (I don’t know how old she is but I think she could be older than my grandmother who is 80) busying herself in herd front garden tackling with her overgrown hedge and other types of bushes and plants.

She’s a very active lady MashaAllah (just as God willed), but I was surprised how she was coping in all the heat. When I asked her she told me that the councilhad given her a deadline for 19th July to have her garden sorted out and that they would be coming to inspect it in the morning. They also wanted to impose on her that some men would come and cut down her front and back gardens at a cost of £90 per hour which would take 2 days to complete meaning that she would have to pay around £1500 altogether!

I can’t believe how.unreasonable they are being. I think it’s just a way of trying to force her out of the home she has lived in since she was 9 months old with her parent’s and into an old people’s home. God forbid!

Why is it that when people get to a certain age they are pressured to be put away as if they are unwanted furniture? I understand that she is getting on a bit and she did have a fall a while ago which put her in hospital for a while but she is a human being with rights and all her mental faculties very well in tact.

Together we managed to sort out her front garden without completely stripping it of its character. Alhamdolillah (praise be to God). I hope that the council won’t complain about it but I know they will persist in trying to make life difficult for her till they get what they want.

Some beneficial reminders on the treatment of neighbors in Islam:
Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) said, “He who believes in Allah and the Last Day let him not harm his neighbour; and he who believes in Allah and the Last Day let him show hospitality to his guest; and he who believes in Allah and the Last Day let him speak good or remain silent”.
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) said, “O Muslim women! No one of you should consider insignificant (a gift) to give to her neighbour even if it is (a gift of) the trotters of a sheep”.
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

Commentary: This Hadith means that neighbours should present gifts to each other. The rich men and the poor according to their means. One who is poor should not think that what he is presenting to his neighbour is not worthy of giving. Even his humble gift, provided it is presented with sincerity, will find acceptance with Allah. According to the Noble Qur’an: “So whosoever does good equal to the weight of an ant (or a small ant) shall see it.” (99:7)

It is, however, better for a rich person to present a gift which goes well with his means. He should not give anything to his neighbour which is stale or which he does not like for himself because apart from insincerity, such a thing shows his contempt for the neighbour while gift is, in fact, a token of sincerity and brotherhood.

Ibn `Umar and `Aishah (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) said, “Jibril kept recommending treating neighbours with kindness until I thought he would assign a share of inheritance”.
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

Ramadan Day 7 Pineapple Upside Down Cake. YUMMY!

I wanted to post last night but I was pretty lost for words. Not because of any great event just because I didn’t really have anything to say. Sometimes it’s just nicer to be in deep thought.

Need to paint.

InshaAllah. (God willing)

I saw a recipe for a pineapple upside down cake yesterday on Karimas Crafts which sure gave me an appetite. I just had to make it. I’d never had it before. MashaAllah (just as God willed) wow it was deliciosa! Heres The Link To The recipe: Pineapple upside down cake.

I also have to say jazakallah khair (May God reward her with good) to Karima for posting this recipe. It worked a treat MashaAllah. With vanilla ice cream of course. 🙂 🙂 🙂

Ramadan day 6 The Artwork Without a Name http://yezarcksblog.blogspot.com/2013/07/ramadan-day-6-artwork-without-name.html

Ramadan day 5

It’s just as well I’m keeping this little Ramadan blog because it’s helping me keep track of the day’s. Knowing me I would get mixed up before reaching the number 10 and be having to count the day’s on a calendar or something. Typical me.

It is the 6th day now but I’m writing this for yesterday because I got busy with some things that I actually hadn’t planned to do and really shouldn’t have been doing because I had something to be getting on with but as it involved numbers and I just wanted to paint I ended up doing neither. So easily distracted, tut tut.

I leave you with a really good quick but effective work out. The 60 second wall.squat was a killer for me on this one.
